Chandigarh, May 14: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra announced on Thursday that the final electoral rolls for the state will be published on October 1. The release follows the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, which is currently underway to update the state’s voter records. Mitra stated that Punjab currently has 2.14 crore registered voters, with mapping already finalized for 1.79 crore individuals.

The revision process includes a door-to-door verification drive by booth-level officers (BLOs) scheduled from June 25 to July 24. Following this field exercise, the draft electoral rolls will be released on July 31, opening a month-long window for citizens to submit claims and objections until August 30. The CEO affirmed that a meeting with political party representatives has been organized for Friday to ensure transparency and clarify any procedural concerns regarding the SIR.

Mitra maintained that the cooperation of political stakeholders is essential for an accurate list and requested that parties prepare their booth-level agents to assist during the claims and objections period. This initiative aims to ensure the integrity of the electoral process as the state prepares for upcoming polls.
