CHENENAI, MAY 30 — Indian multi-lingual actor Jayaram revealed a surprising interaction with Sakshi Dhoni, the wife of cricketer MS Dhoni, during a recent Indian Premier League match in Chennai.
Speaking during a promotional event for his upcoming Tamil film “Parimala & Co,” the veteran actor noted that the encounter left him temporarily startled when Sakshi Dhoni approached him to express her admiration for his work. The actor stated that the initial gesture caught him completely off guard, leading him to believe she had confused him with another film personality.
“Just one week ago, I was at an IPL cricket match in Chennai,” Jayaram stated during an interactive fan session organized by Cinema Vikatan. “Someone pointed out Dhoni’s wife to me, but I didn’t know it. Suddenly, she walks over to me, touches my feet and says she’s a big fan. I was shocked and wondered if she had mistaken me for someone else.”
The actor stated that when he questioned her about the greeting, she clarified that her familiarity with him stemmed from her household routines. She noted that her daughter Ziva’s childhood nanny, a native of Kerala, regularly used a classic song featuring Jayaram to help the toddler fall asleep.
The musical track in question, “Ambalappuzha Unnikannanodu,” comes from the 1991 Malayalam film “Adwaytham,” which featured Jayaram alongside Mohanlal and Revathi. The song previously drew public attention in 2017 when a video clip of a two-year-old Ziva singing the melody became popular across social media channels.
“That’s the song the child would listen to,” Jayaram stated, explaining that Sakshi Dhoni verified she was fully aware of his performance history. “When I told her it’s my song, she said, ‘I know it’s your song.'”
Jayaram, who recently appeared in the Malayalam production “Ashakal Aayiram” and the Tamil film “Kara,” maintains an extensive career across the Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada industries. His upcoming project, “Parimala & Co,” directed by Pandiraaj, features a prominent ensemble cast including Urvashi, Mysskin, and Yogi Babu.
