NEW DELHI, JUNE 6: The Delhi Police on Saturday granted a one-time clearance for an on-ground demonstration at Jantar Mantar organized by the Cockroach Janata Party, a youth-centric online movement.
The demonstration is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and marks the first physical mobilization for the digital organization, which advocates for education reforms and public sector accountability. Security forces deployed more than 1,000 personnel, set up steel barricades along major ingress routes, and initiated drone monitoring to manage crowd density and safety across central Delhi.
“The AAP Government in Punjab has taken a very important decision,” group founder Abhijeet Dipke stated on social media prior to arriving from the United States to lead the gathering. He noted that the campaign intends to maintain a disciplined approach, instructing participants to carry the national flag and maintain total peace during the assembly.
The group formed as a satirical online initiative following controversial public remarks regarding student unemployment, quickly amassing millions of digital followers. Group spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya noted that the movement expects a localized gathering to voice dissatisfaction over recent administrative handling of national entrance tests and board evaluation processes.
Traffic authorities issued comprehensive advisories for commuters traveling through central Delhi, anticipating major transit delays. Officials advised the public to rely on metro services and avoid the peripheral roads surrounding Jantar Mantar due to temporary diversions.
