Barnala, June 26: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that the ultimate decision-making power rests with the public, dismissing recent critical social media campaigns as attempts to distract from the state’s developmental path. Addressing a gathering at a Lok Milni in Barnala, the Chief Minister maintained that his administration remains fully committed to expanding public utilities, healthcare, and irrigation infrastructure.
The Chief Minister countered recent calls for political boycotts by pointing out the double standards of traditional political groups. He noted that massive public turnouts at government events have disquieted political rivals who are now utilizing altered digital media to misinform the public. “Since I have become a nightmare for them, they have now chosen to target me on religious grounds. Every day they create fake videos and circulate them through social media,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Reiterating his focus on ground-level governance, he stated that the administration has successfully laid 14,000 kilometers of water pipelines to assist farmers. This infrastructure has reportedly improved canal water distribution and led to a notable rise in local groundwater levels.
The state has also introduced the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, offering universal cashless healthcare up to ₹10 lakh per family. “It is a matter of immense pride that Punjab has become the first state in the country to provide such comprehensive healthcare coverage,” the Chief Minister declared, noting that patients have already received substantial relief under the system.
Further expanding on upcoming welfare steps, the Chief Minister confirmed that the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will become operational within five days, providing direct financial assistance to eligible women over 18 years of age. He stated that the state exchequer is being utilized carefully to ensure that benefits directly reach the common citizens.
The event concluded with presentations from various local administrative representatives, alongside the presence of Lok Sabha MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.
