Mumbai, 28 October 2024: Police in Navi Mumbai have initiated a case against three individuals and a finance company for allegedly defrauding a 40-year-old woman. The victim claims that her firm was targeted in a scheme that involved taking out a loan of Rs 94 lakh by fraudulently mortgaging her company’s equipment.

According to an official from the Vashi police station, the accused misled the businesswoman by claiming that her private company was poised to secure a tender from a firm in Amravati. They insisted that obtaining a loan was crucial for this opportunity.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrators mortgaged the machinery of the victim’s company, securing a loan of Rs 94,86,728, which they then siphoned off for their own use.

Following the incident, the victim approached the Vashi police and lodged a formal complaint. In response, authorities registered a case against the suspects on Saturday, citing relevant legal provisions, the official confirmed.
