NEW DELHI, AUGUST 23: A 30-year-old Assistant Section Officer serving in the Ministry of Defence was found dead inside her residence in Dwarka under suspicious circumstances. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the victim, who had married in April this year, was discovered inside a locked room while her husband was present at the premises.
Senior police officials stated that the victim locked herself in the room following an argument with her husband, according to initial statements provided to investigators. Family members revealed that the woman was three months pregnant at the time of her death. While initial statements submitted to the executive magistrate raised no immediate suspicions, the parents subsequently filed a formal complaint alleging persistent harassment by the husband and his family.
Following the receipt of the written complaint, the Delhi Police registered an FIR under Sections 85 and 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deal with marital cruelty and abetment of suicide. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh affirmed that further investigation remains in progress and stated that appropriate legal action will proceed based on the collection of evidence.
