Aviation turbine fuel prices for domestic carriers climbed by 5.46 percent on Tuesday, marking the second consecutive monthly increase driven by international benchmark shifts. State-owned oil marketing enterprises declared that jet fuel rates rose by Rs 6.28 per litre to reach Rs 121.28 per litre. Commercial LPG cylinders also saw an upward revision, increasing by Rs 9.50 to touch Rs 2,747.50 per 19-kg cylinder. Concurrently, household LPG, petrol, and diesel rates remained completely steady.
Industry analysts maintained that the successive fuel hikes will add significant pressure to carrier balance sheets. Aviation turbine fuel accounts for up to 40 percent of overall operating expenses for domestic airlines, making fuel shifts particularly impactful on operational budgets. Sector observers noted that the latest adjustment builds directly upon a Rs 5 per litre increase implemented on August 1.
The adjustment in commercial LPG follows periods of rate volatility linked to global energy markets. Commercial cooking gas prices previously experienced significant relief through consecutive cuts of Rs 183.50 in July and Rs 192 in August. Those reductions had offset steep surges recorded earlier in the year when West Asia supply disruptions pushed rates to peak levels.
Domestic energy users will see no changes to their monthly bills. Rates for household cooking gas remained firm at Rs 942 per 14.2-kg cylinder, while petrol and diesel prices stayed unchanged. Official sources affirmed that regular adjustments for jet fuel and commercial gas remain tied to prevailing global rates and currency exchange factors.
