SAMRALA: The Aam Aadmi Party Women’s Wing staged a district-level demonstration outside the Sub Divisional Magistrate office in Samrala on Saturday to protest the alleged assault and humiliation of an elderly Dalit woman at a Shiromani Akali Dal office. A large gathering of women participants joined the demonstration, which was led by AAP Women’s Wing Punjab President and Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, alongside Ludhiana Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and other regional representatives. Protesters raised slogans regarding the incident and burnt an effigy during the gathering to register their opposition.
Addressing the assembled crowd, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora stated that the victim was reportedly targeted inside the political office simply after referring to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in respectful terms. Arora maintained that no individuals or political entities hold the authority to take law enforcement into their own hands, asserting that legal channels must be followed regardless of the parties involved. She affirmed that public representatives and political offices remain bound by standard legal frameworks.
The demonstration concluded with party leaders submitting calls for administrative action to local law enforcement authorities. Dr. Arora urged the Commissioner of Police, the Senior Superintendent of Police, and the concerned Additional Deputy Commissioner to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the matter. She asserted that the women’s wing will continue to advocate for the safety and dignity of women across the state while seeking appropriate legal measures against those found responsible.
