NEW DELHI: Emergency response teams were deployed to the Satya Niketan area in South Delhi after a five-storey building housing a student hostelry collapsed on Sunday afternoon. According to initial reports from local authorities, one fatality has been confirmed, while medical personnel at AIIMS received four individuals from the site, with two remaining under critical medical care. Rescue operations involving the National Disaster Response Force, Delhi Fire Services, local police, and medical units remain active at the location to clear debris and assist any individuals affected by the structural failure.

The property, located in a high-density neighborhood near Delhi University’s South Campus, was reportedly around two decades old, with ongoing basement work noted by local residents prior to the incident. Emergency officials affirmed that specialized equipment has been brought in to navigate the narrow access routes and secure the site safely. Local administration representatives maintained that search and rescue efforts will continue without interruption until all areas of the structure are thoroughly cleared and inspected.
