Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann formally inducted Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and numerous supporters into the Aam Aadmi Party during a public event in Zira on Sunday. Addressing the gathered crowd in the Ferozepur district, the Chief Minister affirmed that public support naturally follows leaders who enter public life with a genuine intention to serve, describing the turnout as a clear endorsement of performance-based governance over traditional political rhetoric.
During his address, the Chief Minister detailed several administrative achievements aimed at state welfare, including the setup of 1,100 Aam Aadmi Clinics to expand healthcare access. He stated that state resources are being utilized to ensure daytime power supply for agriculture, canal water for irrigation, zero electricity bills for ninety percent of households, and over 70,000 merit-based government job appointments.
The Chief Minister also referenced major social security programs, noting that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna provides cashless medical cover up to ten lakh rupees per family, alongside monthly financial support under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna for eligible women. He asserted that civic projects, including the construction of 3,100 sports stadiums, are actively progressing to support youth development across local regions.
Critical of opposing parties, the Chief Minister maintained that rival factions lack a constructive plan for Punjab and focus primarily on personal attacks. He remarked that the Akali Dal has seen its organizational presence decline significantly, while internal factionalism within the Congress party continues to hinder its effectiveness despite central leadership intervention.
