Ludhiana: Law enforcement authorities in Sudhar have registered a murder case following the tragic death of a three-month pregnant woman at Burj Littan village near Mullanpur Dakha. The deceased, identified as Harpreet Kaur of Mandi Ahmedgarh, had married state-level kabaddi player Jaspreet Singh in September 2025. Police initiated formal proceedings against Jaspreet Singh, his father Jagdeep Singh, and his grandfather Narinder Singh following a detailed complaint filed by the victim’s family.
According to statements provided by the victim’s parents, the marriage had been impacted by ongoing domestic disputes and financial demands. Following a temporary stay at her parental home in Mandi Ahmedgarh, the victim was persuaded by her husband to return to Burj Littan. The family alleged that an assault occurred upon her return, after which they received early morning communication regarding her critical health condition.
Responding to the notification, family members arrived at the residence where they discovered physical injuries, prompting immediate police involvement. Station House Officer Kulwinder Singh confirmed that police have taken the husband and grandfather-in-law into custody while awaiting detailed findings from the post-mortem examination to establish the precise sequence of events.
