Chandigarh: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has extended the statewide Cleanliness Campaign 2.0 until September 12 following a positive public response and high complaint resolution rates, announced Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Addressing a press conference at MC Bhawan, the Minister stated that out of 6,459 grievances received via the M-Seva application across 166 Urban Local Bodies, over 83 percent—totaling 5,407 cases—have been resolved on the ground.
To build long-term civic engagement beyond the extended initiative, the Local Government Department will organize four major cleanliness drives over the coming four Saturdays, starting September 12. These community efforts will involve non-governmental organizations, market associations, youth clubs, religious bodies, and Resident Welfare Associations. The Minister affirmed that public collaboration remains essential to maintaining urban sanitation standards and transforming municipal spaces across the state.
Detailing long-term infrastructure improvements, the Minister noted that comprehensive door-to-door garbage collection services have been implemented to eliminate vulnerable waste dump points. Municipal authorities urged residents to keep waste stored at home until collection vehicles arrive, maintaining that administrative measures and citizen discipline together will establish new standards for urban cleanliness in Punjab.
