Chandigarh: Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal addressed recent statements made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi regarding the tragic incident in Dirba, maintaining that the state administration remains fully dedicated to upholding peace, harmony, and public welfare across Punjab. Minister Goyal affirmed that the current government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has executed the most extensive and visible campaign against drug networks in the state’s history.

Responding to queries about the Dirba matter, Minister Goyal stated that local residents and the affected family handled the final rites according to their own wishes, choosing to avoid political interference. Minister Goyal asserted that no minister or member of the legislative assembly had any connection to the incident, noting that public attempts to gain political traction from personal grief run counter to the cultural values of Punjab.

Minister Goyal affirmed that the current drug issue remains a legacy left behind by previous administrations, whereas the present government continues to take direct operational steps to dismantle illegal networks. Minister Goyal maintained that visiting the village directly would provide central leaders with a clearer picture of the situation on the ground rather than relying on statements issued from Delhi.
