Barnala/Sangrur, Sept 22: A major breakthrough was achieved by state law enforcement as a joint team of Barnala and Sangrur district police alongside Counter Intelligence units busted the gang responsible for the recent firing outside Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu’s home. Nine accused, including the key shooters and reconnaissance operatives, were taken into custody following operations across multiple locations, including an encounter on the Barnala-Mansa road.
Authorities declared that the suspects were linked to overseas criminal handlers and were planning further illegal activities in the region. Police officials affirmed that two suspects sustained injuries during a brief exchange of fire after attempting to breach a police checkpoint, following which they were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Barnala for medical care. Arms, ammunition, live cartridges, and vehicles used in the crime were recovered from the arrested individuals.
Investigators maintained that the attack, which occurred on the night of September 12, remains under close scrutiny to determine extortion angles and foreign syndicate links. Senior officers stated that cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, assuring that further disclosures will follow as interrogation progresses.
