CHANDIGARH, SEPT 30: The Southwest Monsoon has nearly completed its withdrawal from Haryana, leaving the state with an overall 25 percent deficit in seasonal rainfall between June 1 and September 30, according to data from the Indian Meteorological Centre.
Indian Meteorological Centre Director Surender Paul maintained that dry weather conditions will prevail across the state in the coming days. He noted that recent snowfall in the higher reaches of the Himalayas will lead to a gradual dip in morning and night temperatures across the plains.
During the four-month monsoon season, Haryana recorded 322.5 mm of precipitation against the normal average of 430.7 mm. Sirsa emerged as the driest district in absolute terms, receiving just 96 mm of rain compared to its seasonal normal of 212.3 mm, marking a 55 percent shortfall. Jind recorded the highest percentage gap, receiving 169.3 mm against its normal requirement of 394.4 mm.
The month of September saw particularly dry conditions statewide, closing with a 44 percent monthly shortfall. Bhiwani experienced the sharpest monthly deficit at 84 percent, receiving only 7.8 mm against its usual 47.6 mm. In contrast, Panchkula recorded a 42 percent surplus in September with 216.2 mm of rainfall, while Palwal closed the season as the sole district avoiding a overall seasonal deficit.
