DHARAMSHALA, OCT 1: A five-member US congressional delegation led by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast met with the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, voicing firm backing for the freedom of the Tibetan people and warning against Chinese interference in spiritual matters. The bipartisan group, comprising Representatives James Gallagher, Jimmy Patronis, Shri Thanedar, and Haley Stevens, held detailed discussions with the Tibetan spiritual leader during their visit.

Addressing media representatives following the meeting, Mast affirmed that conversations focused heavily on China, global freedom, and the rights of Tibetans. He stated that the United States shares a commitment to freedom alongside the Dalai Lama’s global advocacy, noting that Beijing routinely attempts to suppress the Tibetan populace and strongly opposes diplomatic engagements with the spiritual leader.

The high-level visit underscores continued international attention on the Tibetan cause and spiritual succession issues. Lawmakers maintained that the presence of the American delegation serves as a clear assertion of support for human rights and religious freedoms in the region.
