Keralam, Oct 11: Commercial air travel between Keralam and key destinations in West Asia faced severe disruptions following the widespread cancellation of multiple international flights. Statements released by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) confirmed that several major carriers operating routes between Kochi and hubs in Saudi Arabia reported operational suspensions spanning October 11 to October 13 in response to heightened regional security tensions.
Air traffic controllers indicated that the cancellations impact services linking Kochi with cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, and Ras Al Khaimah. Affected flight operations include scheduled services operated by carriers such as Flynas, Air India Express, Akasa Air, and IndiGo. Officials noted that Akasa Air’s connections between Kochi, Riyadh, and Jeddah comprise a significant portion of the grounded schedules scheduled through early October 12.
Airport authorities issued urgent advisories directing international passengers to verify their flight statuses directly with respective airlines prior to traveling to the terminal. Representatives maintained that passenger safety and operational coordination remain paramount, with airlines extending rebooking options and updates as regional monitoring continues.
The flight suspensions follow broader security developments across the Gulf region, which have necessitated tactical adjustments to flight paths and operational schedules. CIAL management confirmed that continuous evaluations are underway in coordination with civil aviation authorities to determine when normal operations can resume safely.
