New Delhi, Oct 12: The central government’s decision to de-notify Jantar Mantar as a designated protest zone has drawn fierce criticism from Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders, who denounced the move as an attempt to suppress dissent and fundamental rights.
Reacting sharply to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive, CJP co-convener Saurav Das labeled the decision “unacceptable” and questioned whether any public or stakeholder consultation preceded the move.
Pushing back against the restrictions, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka offered a sarcastic critique, asking why the government did not simply declare Mount Everest a protest site.
The party leadership framed the restriction not merely as a relocation of venues, but as a systematic dismantling of the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
