NEW DELHI, OCT 14: Delhi authorities have moved key figures associated with the Cockroach Janta Party into judicial custody following an unauthorized gathering at a restricted capital venue.
Law enforcement officials stated that fourteen individuals faced detention after reportedly breaching the denotified protest area at Jantar Mantar via private property and interfering with officers on duty.
The confrontation occurred when members reached the location despite its official status changing, prompting police to file formal complaints across local stations. Following the initial actions, authorities placed select leaders under preventive detention to maintain public order.
The detained members subsequently appeared before the Special Executive Magistrate, where formal proceedings commenced under relevant legal provisions. Judicial officials ordered a five-day remand for Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, pointing to concerns that immediate release might lead to repeated violations or further public incitement.
Investigators maintained that the broader legal process remains active as they evaluate the circumstances surrounding the demonstration and subsequent obstruction charges.
