MEERUT, OCT 14: A Meerut court has handed down the death penalty to Muskan Rastogi and her partner Sahil Shukla for the premeditated murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput.
District Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra delivered the ruling following an intensive legal process that involved 126 hearings across a thirteen-month trial, during which prosecutors presented testimony from twenty-two witnesses.
Law enforcement officials initially uncovered the crime after discovering the victim’s dismembered remains encased in cement inside a blue storage drum at a local residence, following his disappearance in March 2025.
Throughout the proceedings, the prosecution established the sequence of events by presenting evidence related to the purchase of weapons and concealment materials, alongside travel logs and statements from hotel operators and transport drivers.
Legal representatives maintained that the thorough investigation successfully proved the deliberate execution of the crime and subsequent cover-up attempts. Both convicted individuals appeared before the bench via video conferencing to hear the final sentencing.
