MANSA, Oct 15: Normal life in several parts of Punjab witnessed disruptions as road blockades and market closures marked the statewide bandh called following the tragic demise of anti-drug campaigner Parvinder Singh Jhota.

Numerous agricultural unions, commercial groups, and political entities extended their cooperation to the peaceful demonstration, while private educational establishments remained closed across several districts.

Addressing supporters during the morning hours, ex-serviceman Bhim Singh, the father of the deceased campaigner, maintained that public participation remains crucial to ensure the cause receives appropriate attention despite challenging weather conditions across regions.

Representatives of the organizing action committee affirmed that peaceful conduct remains paramount throughout the duration of the demonstration, adding that administrative authorities have been requested to strictly address any unlawful activity.

While movement was restricted along key transit corridors, emergency services and medical transport were systematically permitted to pass without hindrance.

Administrative officials noted that post-mortem procedures at the Civil Hospital in Mansa remain pending while dialogue continues with the family. Local authorities across districts maintained active vigilance to ensure order throughout the scheduled demonstration period.
