NEW DELHI, OCT 16: Delhi Police detained Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students’ Association activist Neha Bora on Friday as authorities moved to prevent a scheduled protest march in the capital.
Dipke was taken into custody while en route to Connaught Place for his outfit’s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march, while Bora was detained near Mandi House shortly after attempting to lead a procession. The detentions followed official notices served earlier by the Delhi Police warning organizers that Connaught Place is not a designated protest venue and directing them to cancel the event.
The planned demonstration was organized following the judicial custody of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were arrested after entering Jantar Mantar on October 13 shortly after the venue was de-notified as an authorized protest site.
To enforce order and prevent unauthorized gatherings, security forces launched a massive security operation across central Delhi, deploying over 6,000 personnel throughout the Lutyens’ zone alongside 5,000 additional reserves drawn from surrounding police districts. Heavy security checkpoints remain stationed around key transit hubs and landmarks, including Rajiv Chowk, Palika Bazaar, Central Park, Jantar Mantar, and local metro stations.
