Chandigarh, Oct 19: Leaders representing various power sector unions in Haryana declared that public electricity infrastructure, built over decades using taxpayers’ money and employee labor, would not be permitted to be transferred to private entities at throwaway prices.

Addressing the issue, representatives across major employee organisations maintained that the current move amounts to handing over valuable public assets to private corporations despite the enterprise being funded by taxpayers.

The joint front included Ashok Goyat, circle secretary of the All Haryana Power Corporation Workers Union, and engineer Narayan Prakash, spokesperson for the Haryana Power Engineers Association. Manoj Bamla, circle secretary of the HEB Workers Union, alongside Kapoor Singh, circle secretary of the SC, ST and BC Welfare Association, also asserted their opposition.

Adding to the collective stance, Bijender Singh Barar, state president of the Haryana Power Corporation SC, ST and BC Union, Rajesh Sarpanch, state committee leader of the AHPCC Workers Union, and senior leader Pradeep Ranga affirmed that employee organisations remain committed to safeguarding public investment in the power network.
