Saharanpur, Oct 24: The newly inaugurated 213-kilometer Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has emerged as a major catalyst for commercial and industrial expansion across western Uttar Pradesh.

Built at an estimated cost of ₹12,000 crore, the six-lane access-controlled corridor has reduced travel times between Delhi and Dehradun from up to seven hours down to under three hours.

Industry leaders across Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli maintained that improved transit speeds have drastically optimized supply chains for key sectors, including wood carving, paper, steel, and agricultural processing.

Transporters declared that reduced congestion and direct routing yield fuel savings of up to ₹4,000 per trip, while doubling vehicle turnaround efficiency.

Furthermore, the infrastructure development has spurred commercial interest in regional logistics hubs and includes dedicated wildlife underpasses along the Rajaji National Park stretch to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Exporters are expecting that the Delhi-Dehradun Corridor will accelerate their business activities. Haji Rafiq Ahmad, Behat Convenor of the Indian Industries Association and owner of Indian Village Handicraft said that the way which used to take eight to ten hours to transport a container from Saharanpur to Delhi’s ICD Tughlakabad now reaches Delhi in two and a half to three hours.

Another exporter, Faizal Ilahi, says traveling to and from Delhi is now easier. Earlier, a meeting with a buyer in Delhi would take up the entire day. Now, one can leave at 6 a.m., attend a meeting in Delhi at 9 a.m. and return to the factory by the afternoon.

“This is helping businesses make decisions faster and complete business-related tasks in less time,” he added.
