Philippine, Oct 24: Two Philippine Air Force training aircraft collided during a low-altitude flight exercise, resulting in the deaths of four pilots onboard. Officials confirmed that both SF-260 aircraft crashed near Fernando Airport in Lipa City, located south of Manila, with one impact occurring close to military barracks.
In response to the fatal accident, the Philippine Air Force grounded all SF-260 aircraft until a comprehensive investigation is completed.
Military observers noted that the Italian-built aircraft have been involved in past safety incidents, highlighting ongoing challenges faced by the armed forces in upgrading aging military hardware amidst budget constraints.
