Bathinda, 5 December 2024: Three Mansa police officers sustained injuries when farmers from Sangrur district, traveling to protest against the Gujarat gas pipeline in Bathinda’s Leleana village, drove their vehicles at the police during an attempt to block their movement.
A convoy of about 300 farmers was stopped by Inspector Gurbir Singh at a Bhikhi police blockade in Mansa district.
According to officials, the farmers allegedly chased the officers away after a brief confrontation, prompting the police to resort to lathi-charge.
In retaliation, some farmers reportedly rammed their vehicles into the officers, injuring three personnel, including Daljit Singh from City 2 Police Station and Jasveer Singh from Budhlada.
Police have stated that no farmers have been detained yet, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the details of the incident.
