Farm Leader Dallewal Admitted on 23rd Day of Hunger Strike

Chandigarh, 18 December 2024—Farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, currently on a hunger strike demanding a law on Minimum Support Price (MSP), was admitted to a hospital on the 23rd day of his fast as his health deteriorated significantly.

According to government doctors, Dallewal’s sugar levels dropped to 66 mg%, well below the normal range of up to 140 mg%. His uric acid level surged to 13 mg%, exceeding the acceptable range of 3.5 to 7.0 mg%, and his potassium level fell to 3.2 meq/L, below the standard range of 3.5 to 5.2 meq/L.

Medical experts attending to him have expressed concern over these irregularities, underscoring the severe strain the prolonged fast has placed on his body. Dallewal has been leading the protest for a legal guarantee of MSP for farmers.
