Mohali, 22 February 2025—A two-member gang involved in snatching and thefts across the city has been arrested at a police checkpoint in Phase 9, officials said.

Identified as Sonu Khan and Khush Kumar, both residents of Sohana village, the duo attempted to flee upon spotting the police barricade but was chased down and apprehended, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City 2) Harsimran Singh Bal said.

During questioning, they failed to provide documents for their Hero Deluxe motorcycle, which was later confirmed as stolen from Kumbra village. Further interrogation revealed their history of theft and snatching.

Khan had been declared a proclaimed offender in a 2021 snatching case and is named in two more cases at the Sohana and Phase-1 police stations. Kumar also faces two theft cases and one looting case.

A new case under Sections 303(2), 317(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at the Phase-8 police station. Both accused were presented in court and remanded to two-day police custody.
