Mohali, 26 February — Komal Mittal, a 2014-batch IAS officer, assumed charge as Mohali’s deputy commissioner (DC) on Tuesday, replacing Aashika Jain, who has been appointed DC of Hoshiarpur.
Mittal, who earlier served as additional deputy commissioner (General) in Mohali before becoming DC of Hoshiarpur, returns to Mohali in her new role.
Outlining her priorities, she said tackling corruption, drug abuse, and illegal immigration would be key focus areas.
“We will work on de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in coordination with the police,” she said, adding that issues like unplanned urban development, encroachments, illegal constructions, and traffic management would also be addressed.
“Strict action will be taken against illegal immigration agents who deceive people,” she said.
Mittal held an introductory meeting with administration staff, urging punctuality, transparency, and efficiency. She directed officials to minimize work pendency and ensure public convenience.
