Mumbai, April 20: Aamir Khan has shared fresh insights into his next film Sitaare Zameen Par, calling it a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Speaking to his China-based fan club in an interaction shared on X (formerly Twitter), Aamir revealed that the film is “almost ready” and promises a shift in tone from emotional drama to heartfelt comedy.

“It is the sequel of Taare Zameen Par in spirit. Thematically, it is going ten steps ahead. It is about people who are differently abled, but the approach is very different,” Aamir said. “Taare Zameen Par made you cry, but this one will make you laugh.”

He also spoke about his character, Gulshan, describing him as the polar opposite of the compassionate teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh from the original film. “Gulshan is not sensitive at all. He’s rude, politically incorrect, fights with everyone—his wife, mother, even beats up his senior coach,” the actor said, adding that Gulshan’s transformation is central to the story.

The film is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions and revolves around a coach who works with a team of people with intellectual disabilities. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir alongside Taare Zameen Par actor Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh.

The official release date is yet to be announced.
