CHANDIGARH — Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu launched a severe critique against the Congress party, challenging Rahul Gandhi to address his own party’s past governance record regarding the drug crisis in Punjab rather than issuing lectures.
Addressing a press conference, Pannu pointed out that former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had taken a solemn oath on Sri Gutka Sahib to eradicate drugs from the state, a promise that ultimately remained unfulfilled.
“Captain Amarinder Singh swore on Sri Gutka Sahib to end drugs, which turned out to be false,” Pannu stated. He questioned why former Senior Superintendent of Police Rajjit Singh continued receiving key postings even after Inspector Inderjit Singh was apprehended during previous tenures.
| Key Focus Area | Official / Party Addressed | Primary Allegation Raised |
| Congress Governance | Rahul Gandhi & Capt. Amarinder Singh | Unfulfilled oath on Sri Gutka Sahib and protective officer postings |
| Historical Precedents | Akali-BJP (2007–2017) | Rise of major drug networks and unaddressed ED investigations |
| Current Administration | Bhagwant Mann Government | Opening pending High Court reports and arresting Rajjit Singh |
Pannu further criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for commenting on state narcotics issues without addressing inflows from ports in BJP-ruled Gujarat or accounting for drug syndicate figures brought back from Canada. Highlighting the current administration’s actions, Pannu noted that the Bhagwant Mann government successfully pursued pending High Court reports and apprehended absconding officials to dismantle entrenched networks.
