NEW DELHI, FEB 6: Opposition parties have intensified their attack on the Delhi government following the death of Kamal Dhyani, who succumbed to injuries after falling into an open Delhi Jal Board pit in Janakpuri. Both AAP and Congress leaders characterized the incident as a “murder” caused by a systemic failure to enforce safety protocols at construction zones.

The political outcry focused on the reported absence of barricades and warning boards at the site where a deep trench had been excavated for pipeline work. Critics pointed out that similar incidents in the past should have prompted stricter safety enforcement by civic agencies.

Arvind Kejriwal, expressing condolences to the bereaved family, said the tragedy reflects a broader pattern of irresponsibility. “This is not an accident, but murder. The BJP has learned nothing even from the Noida incident. Extreme negligence and an utterly irresponsible attitude have now become the hallmark of BJP governments,” Kejriwal said.

Echoing these concerns, Saurabh Bharadwaj noted the harrowing circumstances under which the victim was found after spending the night in the pit. He stated that the government’s failure to secure roadwork sites continues to endanger residents. “The BJP government in Delhi has learned nothing from the Noida incident,” Bharadwaj said.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate questioned the accountability of the Delhi Jal Board, stating that the victim was simply trying to reach home from work when he encountered the unmarked hazard. “In the BJP’s double-engine government, is this a death or a murder? You tell us,” Shrinate said while highlighting the total lack of protective measures at the excavation site.
