Chandigarh, Feb 12: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday asserted that its legislators stand “like a rock” with the state government following allegations that the BJP tried to bribe Sangrur MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj. During a media briefing at the party headquarters, leaders mentioned that the BJP’s attempts to use a “For Sale” board in Punjab would continue to fail.

Narinder Kaur Bharaj, the 27-year-old MLA, revealed that she was directly approached by the Haryana Chief Minister with an offer to contest on a BJP ticket. She noted that the offer included the fulfillment of any demand she put forward in exchange for leaving the AAP.

“I am that worker who has put up posters for the party. Only the Aam Aadmi Party can give a small farmer’s daughter the honour of becoming an MLA at the age of 27,” Bharaj said. She mentioned that the people of Punjab and all party MLAs remain loyal to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Baltej Pannu, the state media in-charge, noted that the BJP is repeating its failed Delhi strategy on Punjab soil. He mentioned that the AAP model of governance, featuring free electricity and public welfare, stands in sharp contrast to what he described as a failing model in Haryana.

Pannu stated that the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office should be upheld rather than being used for political horse-trading. He noted that the AAP’s representatives come from ordinary households and are not intimidated by the activities or offers of traditional political parties.

The party mentioned that the internal unity of the AAP remains absolute. Bharaj noted that she began her journey as an ordinary worker at age 19 and remains steadfast in her commitment to the party’s policies, making it clear that no amount of pressure would influence her or her colleagues.
