Chandigarh, November 21: Punjab’s flood-affected farmers are receiving on-ground assistance from AAP MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, who recently visited fields devastated by floods and helped farmers make the land cultivable again. Seechewal’s team brought tractors and machinery to clear silt and sand deposited by floodwaters.

The initiative comes under a Punjab government scheme called “Jiska Khet, Uski Ret” (Whose Field, Their Sand), which gives farmers ownership of the sand accumulated in their fields and provides support to remove it. Farmers are also being offered technical guidance and financial assistance to prepare for upcoming crops.
Officials said the MP and his team are actively coordinating with government machinery to ensure relief and rehabilitation work reaches farmers efficiently. Many farmers expressed relief at the direct involvement of public representatives, noting that such support was absent in previous flood events.
