Abohar, 16 November 2024: Abohar Police organized a seminar today at Arovansh Dharamshala in Abohar city as part of “Project Contact,” aiming to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the public and to combat drug menace.
Led by SSP Varinder Singh Brar, the event saw participation from police officers, local residents, social service organization representatives, and youth.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Brar raised the need for community-police collaboration, emphasizing its importance in building trust and addressing security concerns. The seminar’s primary focus was on combating drug abuse and promoting a drug-free Punjab. Brar detailed the harmful effects of drugs, stressing that addiction devastates not just individuals but families and society at large.
In his speech, Brar urged the youth to stay away from drugs and engage in sports and healthy activities as positive alternatives. He appealed to the public, stating, “Making every village and city drug-free is a shared responsibility. It’s not just the job of the police but of every citizen.” He called on social organizations, panchayats, and youth to contribute actively in the fight against the drug trade.
During the session, the district police chief addressed questions from attendees and assured them of prompt action on their concerns. Citizens also offered suggestions to curb drug addiction in their communities.
This seminar marks a proactive effort by Fazilka Police towards realizing the vision of a drug-free India, underscoring the collective role of police and community members in eradicating the menace of substance abuse.
