Patiala, October 10: Bollywood actor Gavie Chahal on Friday led a peace march in Patiala to pay tribute to late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, who died recently after a road accident in Himachal Pradesh allegedly caused by stray cattle.

The march, organized under the banner of the Gavie Chahal Foundation, began at the Mahatma Gandhi statue and concluded at Sewa Singh Thikriwala Chowk.

According to inputs, participants observed a two-minute silence in memory of Jawanda before proceeding through the city streets.

Speaking at the event, Chahal expressed grief over the singer’s death and urged collective action to tackle the problem of stray animals on roads.

“Many precious lives are lost every day in road accidents caused by stray animals. We must come together to find a lasting solution,” he said.

“A lot of people have spoken about the stray cattle menace for years, but no real action has been taken on the ground,” Gavie Chahal said.

Chahal described Jawanda’s passing as a “painful wake-up call” that should move citizens and authorities alike to take concrete steps.

“Instead of merely expressing sorrow, we should act decisively to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” he added.

As part of the initiative, the Gavie Chahal Foundation has launched an online petition on its website — gaviechahalfoundation.com — urging the public to support stronger measures for managing stray animals and ensuring safer roads.

The actor said he was heartened by the strong public response to the march and thanked citizens for their participation and encouragement.

Jawanda, a popular Punjabi singer and actor, died on October 8 after battling for nearly two weeks in hospital following a motorcycle accident near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. Reports suggest he lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid stray cattle on the road.
