CHANDIGARH, April 2: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria carried out surprise inspections at three key public institutions on Thursday to evaluate the quality of services and infrastructure. Accompanied by senior officials, the Administrator visited Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH-32), the Sector 31 Group Home, and the SPCA in Sector 38 to interact directly with staff and beneficiaries.

At GMCH-32, Kataria focused his attention on the Emergency and Trauma Block, including the surgical, pediatric, and medicine emergency wards. He noted that the majority of patients he spoke with expressed satisfaction regarding their treatment. The Administrator also reviewed the operations of the blood collection center and ultrasound facilities while receiving a briefing on emergency surgical protocols.

“The Administrator interacted with residents and staff to review the admissions process,” officials stated regarding the subsequent visit to the Sector 31 Group Home. The facility, which provides rehabilitation for individuals with mental illnesses and autism, underwent a thorough review of its operational standards and care modules.

The inspection concluded at the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA-38). Kataria affirmed the need for strict adherence to cleanliness and directed officials to strengthen monitoring systems for animal care. He specifically inquired about the treatment of injured animals and requested the development of formal standard operating procedures for managing aggressive dogs.
