May 14, Rohit & Kohli Test Retirement: After the retirement of Indian team’s experienced batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, there was a discussion whether the grade of these two players would decrease in the central contract or not? Now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given information about this. Rohit and Kohli have been an important part of the Indian team for a long time and they were placed in the A Plus category in the recently released BCCI central contract.

Rohit-Kohli’s decision had surprised

Rohit and Kohli surprised everyone by retiring from Test cricket within a week just before the England tour. Both these players have also retired from T20 International and will now be seen playing for India only in the ODI format. However, their central contract grade will not be reduced after playing in just one format. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has given this information quoting news agency ANI.

Saikia clarified the stand

Saikia said, even though Rohit and Kohli have announced their retirement from Tests after T20, they are still a part of Indian cricket, so both of them will continue to get the facility of Grade A Plus of the central contract.

BCCI had announced the list of annual contracts of players for the year 2024-2025 last month. There are a total of 34 players in this list. Four players were placed in A+ grade, which also included Rohit and Kohli. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were retained in the A+ category of BCCI’s central contract.

Players included in Grade A+ get seven crore rupees annually

BCCI gives Rs 7 crore annually to players included in A+ grade, while players included in A grade get five crore, players included in B grade get three crore and players included in C grade get one crore rupees. Only those players are included in the BCCI’s central contract list who have played at least three Tests, eight ODIs or 10 T20 matches within a year.
