New Delhi, Nov 28: An Air India flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad returned to the Delhi airport Thursday evening after a suspected smoke indication in the cargo hold, airline sources said.
The Delhi-Ahmedabad flight AI2939, operated with an Airbus A320 carrying around 170 passengers, returned shortly after take-off. “The aircraft returned due to a smoke indication, which was later found to be false after thorough checks,” an airline official said.
Following standard procedures, the plane landed safely, and all passengers and crew were disembarked without incident. They were later flown to Ahmedabad on a different aircraft, the official added.
Authorities said the smoke alert was a false indication, and no safety issues were reported.
