AMBALA, MAY 9: An aerial threat alert issued by the Air Force Station early Friday morning triggered sirens across Ambala, with the district administration urging residents to stay indoors and away from balconies for at least two hours.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer confirmed that the alert had been received from the Air Force Station. “Residents were advised not to venture out unless necessary,” he said.

This was the first such alert issued in Ambala since the beginning of the ongoing conflict. Sirens were sounded again later, signalling the all-clear.

On Thursday night, the Deputy Commissioner had already advised residents to respond promptly to emergency sirens, switch off lights, and avoid rooftops.

In a related move, all educational institutions—including schools, colleges, ITIs and polytechnic institutes—will remain shut in the district till May 10.

A scheduled press conference by the Deputy Commissioner has also been postponed.
