TARN TARAN, SEPT 26 — Navdeep Singh, the 45-year-old husband of Shiromani Akali Dal sarpanch Kulwinder Kaur, was fatally shot during an altercation between two local groups in Gaggobua village under the Chabal police station area.
The incident occurred late Friday night following a sudden dispute. According to police officials, local jeweler Surinder Singh, also known as Sonu Kanda, allegedly opened fire on Navdeep Singh during the confrontation. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to a nearby medical facility.
City DSP Sukhbir Singh declared that law enforcement authorities promptly initiated action, booking three individuals in connection with the crime. The named suspects include Surinder Singh alias Sonu Kanda, Nirmal Singh Nimma, and Arshdeep Singh.
“A case has been registered against them under Section 103 of the BNS and relevant sections of the Arms Act,” the DSP asserted, adding that specialized police teams have been deployed to conduct raids across suspected hideouts to apprehend the fleeing accused.
Investigating officers maintained that initial findings point strictly to a localized personal dispute, confirming that preliminary inquiries reveal no political or gangster-related motives behind the incident.
