New Delhi, November 11 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday instructed the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to match samples collected from the bodies of victims and from the site of the car explosion near Red Fort, officials said.

Chairing a second high-level review meeting on the incident, Shah directed the FSL to conduct an extensive analysis of all specimens gathered from the spot and submit detailed findings at the earliest. The meeting was attended by the Director of Forensic Science Services, the Chief Director of FSL Delhi, and senior officials from top investigative agencies, sources said.

“The Home Minister has directed that forensic experts must match the biological and material evidence from the bodies with the car remnants and samples found at the blast site,” a senior official noted.

Shah was briefed on the ongoing investigation and emphasized that every lead must be examined thoroughly. He said top agencies were already probing the blast “in-depth” to ascertain the cause and those responsible.

The explosion occurred on Monday evening in a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near Red Fort Metro Station, killing 12 people and injuring at least 20. Several nearby vehicles were gutted in the fire that followed the blast.

Officials said forensic teams have been working round the clock to identify victims and determine the composition of the explosive materials used.
