New Delhi/Coumbatore, 24 February — Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will attend Mahashivratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore on February 26, according to the Isha Foundation.

The event, held in front of the 112-foot Adiyogi statue, will begin at 6 p.m. on February 26 and continue until 6 a.m. the next morning.

“This marks the 31st Mahashivratri celebration at the center and will be a significant gathering,” Swami Paaraga, regional coordinator of the Isha Foundation, said at a press conference.

The nightlong program will feature meditation sessions, mantra chanting, and performances by renowned artists.

Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Foundation, will lead a midnight meditation and introduce a new meditation app, Miracle of the Mind.

The event will be broadcast live from more than 100 locations across India, including 50 in Tamil Nadu and 25 in Kerala.

It will also be streamed in 22 languages and aired on over 150 TV channels, digital platforms, and 100+ PVR-INOX theaters. Platforms such as Jio, Hotstar, ZEE5, and various FM radio stations will carry the live coverage.

Devotees can attend the event in person with free entry, and Maha Annadanam will be provided as part of the tradition. Online registration is available through the Isha Mahashivratri website.

Amit Shah is expected to arrive in Coimbatore on February 25, where he will inaugurate the BJP’s new district office in Peelamedu before heading to the Isha Yoga Center.

Mahashivratri, regarded as a spiritually significant night, is observed with the belief that planetary alignments enhance human energies. The celebration includes Pancha Bhuta Kriya, a purification ritual, and a procession of the Linga Bhairavi.

The festival will also feature a sound and light show projected onto the Adiyogi statue.

The Isha Yoga Center is accessible by air, rail, and road, with Coimbatore International Airport about 40 km away and Coimbatore Junction being the nearest railway station.
