New Delhi, 19 October 2024: Another bomb threat forced an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Jaipur to make an emergency landing in the early hours of Saturday, officials reported.
The flight, which had 189 passengers on board, landed safely at Jaipur airport at 1:20 am after receiving a bomb threat, which was later confirmed to be a hoax, according to reports.
Authorities immediately declared an emergency upon being alerted to the situation, ensuring swift action by security personnel.
“The aircraft was thoroughly checked, but nothing suspicious was found,” an official stated, confirming the threat was a false alarm.
This incident is part of a disturbing trend of bomb threats targeting various airlines, both on domestic and international routes, in recent days. Most of these threats, authorities revealed, have been received via social media platforms, raising concerns about the safety and disruption of air travel.
In the past two days alone, over 20 flights have been affected by bomb threats, leading to emergency diversions, rescheduling, and heightened security measures at airports. “Security forces have been put on high alert,” the official added, stressing the strain these repeated hoaxes are placing on aviation and law enforcement personnel.
Although no real danger has been detected in any of these cases, the series of bomb threats has caused significant disruptions and anxiety among passengers and airline staff. The repeated false alarms have prompted calls for stricter monitoring of such threats on social media and enhanced preventive measures to avoid further disturbances to air travel.
