Patiala, 18 February – The third meeting of the seven-member committee for the Shiromani Committee’s recruitment is set for today in Patiala, but another member, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, has distanced himself from the panel.
He has written to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh requesting his removal.
Badungar, a nominated member of the committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, expressed gratitude for his selection but cited concerns over maintaining the Panthic tradition and morality as reasons for stepping away.
Two meetings of the committee have already taken place—one at Tohra Institute Bahadurgarh in Patiala and another at the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s sub-office in Chandigarh.
Both meetings, chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, remained inconclusive.
With Dhami resigning from his posts, uncertainty looms over today’s meeting, particularly regarding who will preside over it.
