New Delhi, Feb 27: During his first public reaction after being discharged in the Delhi excise policy case, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal became visibly emotional, stating that the court’s decision represents the ultimate triumph of truth. The legal development follows months of scrutiny and the incarceration of top Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, a period Kejriwal described as a concerted attempt to dismantle his party.
The court discharged both Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, noting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to present sufficient evidence to sustain the corruption allegations. The ruling maintained that attributing a central conspiratorial role to the leaders without credible material could not stand in a court of law.
“I am not corrupt,” Kejriwal declared while addressing the media. He asserted that the court has formally recognized the honesty of the AAP leadership. He stated that the case was a significant political conspiracy intended to target the party’s top five leaders and finish the organization’s political existence. He affirmed that his only life’s earning has been his integrity, which he believes has now been vindicated.
The former Chief Minister recalled the hardship of his time in custody, asserting that despite being labeled as corrupt in public debates, the judicial system has proven otherwise. He affirmed that “Kejriwal is honest and Manish Sisodia is honest,” adding that the outcome has reaffirmed his faith in the Constitution.
Manish Sisodia also welcomed the discharge, stating that the vision of the Constitution’s architects has been upheld. He asserted that despite the efforts of central agencies to prove them dishonest, their integrity remains intact. The court’s order noted that serious allegations must be backed by credible evidence, a standard the prosecution failed to meet in this high-profile matter.
