CHANDIGARH/MOHALI, July 9 — After recently being appointed as BJP Punjab Working President, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, MLA from Pathankot, met Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu in Chandigarh on Monday to discuss the party’s strategy and political direction in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Accompanied by senior BJP leaders, Sharma held wide-ranging discussions on issues including internal security, drug de-addiction, youth empowerment, and the party’s roadmap for Punjab. The meeting marked the beginning of his organisational outreach since assuming the new role.
Congratulating Sharma, MP Satnam Singh Sandhu expressed confidence in his ability to rejuvenate the party in the state.
“Ashwani ji brings with him over three decades of political insight and grassroots experience. His leadership will infuse new energy not just into the party but also into Punjab’s political landscape,” Sandhu said.
Sharma, in turn, thanked the party’s central leadership for the trust placed in him and affirmed his commitment to strengthening the BJP in Punjab.
“We are working with renewed vigour to position BJP as a credible and robust alternative in the state. Our efforts will focus on connecting with every segment of society and every corner of Punjab,” he said.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”, saying the BJP would intensify public outreach to raise awareness about the Centre’s policy initiatives and governance model.
Party insiders described the meeting as a signal of BJP’s intent to consolidate its organisational base and enhance its appeal among youth and rural voters in the state.
