CHANDIGARH, APRIL 7: Rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, known as Badshah, submitted an unconditional apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday following a controversy over his recent track ‘Tateeree’. During a hearing chaired by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the artist committed to promoting women’s empowerment through his future work and sponsoring the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections.

The NCW had taken suo motu cognizance of the song after reports suggested its lyrics and visuals, which featured schoolgirls, were derogatory and harmful to the dignity of women. Badshah, alongside the song’s directors and producer, expressed regret for the impact of the content. “I will work for the upliftment of women and society. I will present a positive song on women’s empowerment within four months,” the singer stated during the proceedings.

The controversy has also seen significant enforcement action, with Haryana Police recently removing over 850 digital links to the song across YouTube and Instagram following an FIR in Panchkula. Chairperson Rahatkar affirmed that the presentation of the track was offensive and directed the creators to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

This legal setback follows a recent Delhi High Court order that directed the removal of an earlier track, ‘Volume 1’, from all streaming platforms due to vulgar content. In response to the latest hearing, Badshah maintained his commitment to social responsibility, asserting that he would focus on positive contributions to Haryanvi culture and the empowerment of women moving forward.
