MOHALI, April 25:— Partap Bajwa, a senior figure within the Punjab Congress, underwent a second round of intensive questioning by police Friday, concerning an FIR stemming from his “50 bombs have reached Punjab” statement.
Officers at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali conducted the six-hour interrogation.
This marks the second instance of Bajwa’s appearance for police questioning; he previously faced interrogation on April 15. Following his departure from the police station in the evening, Bajwa, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, declined to make any statements to the gathered media.
Bajwa has sought legal recourse by filing a petition to quash the FIR registered against him. The Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him interim protection from arrest on April 22. However, the court order did not impede the ongoing police investigation into the matter.
“No comments,” Bajwa stated curtly as he left the police station.
The investigation continues despite the interim relief granted by the High Court.
The FIR was lodged following Bajwa’s controversial remarks regarding the purported arrival of 50 bombs in Punjab, causing considerable concern and prompting the police action.
