ZIRAKPUR, May 31— Two unidentified women allegedly robbed a bank manager of his gold chain and ₹23,000 in cash after asking him for a lift on VIP Road here late Friday night, police said.
The complainant, Vikas Kaliyan, a resident of Karnal in Haryana, told police he was returning from a business meeting in Chandigarh with two friends when the incident occurred.
According to his statement, the women flagged down their vehicle and requested a ride to a nearby hotel. “They said they needed to be dropped near their room,” Kaliyan told police. “Once we reached, they suddenly started manhandling me, snatched my gold chain and pulled ₹23,000 from my pocket before fleeing.”
The theft took place just as they arrived near the hotel entrance. Kaliyan later spotted the same women again on VIP Road and immediately alerted police.
A case has been registered under Sections 304(2) (robbery causing hurt) and 3(5) (joint criminal act by multiple persons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.
